The goal of the coalition is to transform mental health representation in entertainment by:

• Representing the full range of mental health experiences to show that we all have mental health needs.

• Increasing stories about diverse communities that are often underrepresented in media and help everyone be seen and included in the mental health conversation.

• Storytelling can be especially important when depicting mental health in underrepresented communities where there might sometimes be less open dialogue and greater stigma.

• The coalition has developed a Mental Health Media Guide to provide content creators tips and tools to change the narrative on mental health. The guide is based on best practices and evidence-based recommendations. It provides tips for positive mental health storytelling by genre, format and identity group, a directory of advisors and audience resources as well as a glossary of mental health terms.
